The Child Dental Benefits Schedule is a Government scheme for eligible children aged 2-17 years to receive $1000 of dental benefits. Eligible families will have received a letter from Medicare or you may phone Medicare on 132 011 to confirm eligibility. This initiative has replaced the Medicare Teen Dental Vouchers that ceased in December 2013.
Basic dental services are capped at $1,000 per child over two consecutive calendar years. The dental services provided for under this scheme will be bulk billed and you will have no additional out of pocket expense. If there is remained of the $1,000 benefit in the first year of eligibility, you can use it in the second year if you are still eligible. Any remaining balance will not be carried forward at the end of the second year. Child Dental Benefits Schedule services will not count towards the Medicare Safety Net or the Extended Medicare Safety Net thresholds.
What is Covered?
Benefits will cover a range of services including:
- Teeth cleaning

What is not covered?
